EVANESCENCE PORTRAYS WOLVES BADLY
Originally written in September of 2006
I did like Evanescence, once. That was
until I saw the picture on their
Myspace profile that was for the song
'Call Me When You're Sober'.
It showed the singer, Amy Lee, lying
among the Wolves.

Upon research, I found a website that
had a behind the scenes featurette
that was on MTV2 about the video.
It follows in cannon with the tale
'Little Riding Hood', the tale about
about Little Red Riding Hood who
travels to her grandmothers house
to later get eaten by the Wolf.
This fairy tale has inspired fear and
hatred of Wolves for centuries and thus
one of the main reasons for the slaughter
of Wolves around the world. This tale
continues to inspire that same fear
and hatred of Wolves.
In this song, the original underlining
theme had to do with her former relationship
with ex-boyfriend Shaun Morgan [of Seether].

It would have been fine and great if the song
was just about that. But Amy Lee in her
quest for therapy by doing this song decided
to take it in a direction that was horrible.
She decided to use the tale of Little Riding
Hood and make her ex-boyfriend in this video,
the Wolf.
A video and song that once again perpetuates the lie
of this fairy tale and continues it.

I find this truly bizzare and insulting.
A singer that wants to allieviate their own suffering decides to
perpetuate a tale that has caused the deaths of
Wolves around the world? A singer that supports
the cause of curing epilepsy (http://www.outoftheshadows.com/)
but perpetuates a tale that demonizes Wolves?
This isn't good work and it doesn't show good character
either. And of course, the Wolves had
a handler that 'took good care of them'. This sounds
just like when the 'Chronicles of Narnia' film was made
and the Wolf-Dog Maverick was used for the film. Once again,
Wolves used to perpetuate their reputation as evil, tempting,
sinister monsters.

Chronicles of Narnia, Lady in the Water
(http://www.heartofthewolf.org/LadyInTheWater.htm), and now this.
I was thinking of going to their concert when it was going
to be near my city. Guess I can use that $40 for something
more positive and promoting the Wolves in a better light.
That would be Okami for PS2, which just came out. If you
support Wolves, pass on the album this song will be on,
'The Open Door', for I know I will be shutting the door on
this album and band. So, I will then be saving an additional
$20. And that will go into real non-profit groups.
