2) IN - VERY HANDSOME MIDNIGHT NEEDS A HOME-PLZ REPOST

Midnight has been in a shelter since January, 2009. He was
there due to neglect case and was not
socialized to people at all. Since then, he has really bonded with
his caretaker and will bond with
a new family when he learns they can be trusted. He will require
a family experienced with this situation.

He will need a female companion that is socialized to people to
bring him around to a new home.
According to the shelter, "he loves the ladies" when they pen a
female next to his pen.

QUOTE FROM EXPERIENCED EVALUATOR:

"Hi all....
I went to see this animal today and I wanted to see if anyone
could help.
The people he was taken from said he was a pure wolf " AND
THEY HAVE PAPERS"
He is not...The first thing I saw the curl of the tail on his back
and his small feet which led me to
believe that he has a husky mix or a small amount of Mal. He is
not as stalky to have much Mal in him.
I saw no GS He has been in this shelter since Jan. and the case
is going through the courts because he
has escaped from the owners and killed a dog and there have
been petitions signed not to let the people
have this animal back. The owners have yet to come to the
shelter to see how he is doing. Apparently they
got him from a breeder in Martinsville,IN. Don't know who they
are.
While he has a great relationship with his caregiver at the
shelter he is very vocal and upset when a
stranger comes around. I would not trust him with children and
or pets. I sat at his level outside his
10x10 enclosure for about a 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes and
during that time he settled down. I even scratched
his backside but I am sure he didn't realize it was me, because
the caregiver was sitting right next to me.
After I stood up he went right back to his behavior as when I got
there. He does not like strangers which
would have me wondering if he may harm someone that he
didn't trust.
He is a handsome fella but my opinion is he would be best in a
one on one relationship. I don't know if
any of you have any ideas but here are the pictures I got of him.
He is intact and looks to be about 3 years old."

Midnight will be neutered prior to adoption.

He is good with people and even does great at the vet's! He is
usually a laid back little guy,
although he'll bark and run in circles if he thinks you're coming
to pet, walk, or feed him.
He's very charming and mannerly with his canine girlfriend; lets
her check out both food bowls
and decide on one before he tries to eat, and when she
pretends to have puppies (stuffed animals)
and holes up with them, he patiently stands guard at the mouth
of the den.

He is excited to see other dogs but does not act aggressive
towards them. He DOES stalk and
charge at cats, so can NOT live with smaller animals. Loves to
walk on a leash but does not
have much for leash manners so you have to hang on!
Fortunately he is on the smallish side
for a wolfdog, perhaps 60-70 pounds, and is probably mixed
with husky and shepherd. He has
plenty of energy and love left in him, if someone wanted to give
an older boy a chance.

He lives in the south east part of the country. Is an outside boy
and I doubt if he is
housebroken. Would be a terrific companion and pen mate for a
sweet older girl.
