Heart of the Wolf Organization Wolf Media News 3/31/2010 1) The Cat has recommended a really good book. It's called The Wolf in the Parlor and it has to do with wolves and their gradual transformation to man's best friend. It has some radical new theories and ideas and challenges on old ones on how dogs came to be. A very interesting book and we have had the opportunity to go over it. Definitely do not miss it. http://www.amazon.com/Wolf-Parlor-Eternal-Connection-between/ dp/0805090770/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270011482& sr=1-1 2) The Cat also found a book that mentions Wepwawet, the Wolf-god in Egyptian belief. It's called Egyptian Symbols by Heike Owusu. http://www.amazon.com/Egyptian-Symbols-Heike-Owusu/dp/14027 46237/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270010951&sr=1-3 The book also has interesting facts on Egyptian culture, dress, and building design. 3) The magazine BBC Wildlife March 2010 issue had quite a bit of coverage in it having to do with wolves. http://www.bbcwildlifemagazine.com/viewIssue.asp?id=1338 A) The first had to do with the horrific Swedish hunt that happened in January where 4,500 hunted down 20 wolves and shot them to death. Of course the government of Sweden justified it by saying it was to promote a healthy population. And they had bloodthirsty hunters enforce their will. Not surprisingly, most in Sweden support wolves and are not thrilled about this. But as we know, those who are in power and have the fate of animals in their hands, usually don't care for nature at all... B) They also have a photo of some Ethiopian Wolves in their article, Great Rift, which deals with a massive valley in Africa. The Ethiopian Wolves on the Great Rift, are an isolated population. C) It also talks about the newest sequel to Planet Earth and Blue Planet. The series Frozen Earth is coming out in Britain soon. It's seven episodes long and it has to do with, well you guessed it, frozen areas. The Arctic and the Antarctic will be highlighted. As well as wolves on the hunt, and Global Warming will be talked about since it is still a grave threat. D) The Storybook Wolf photograph was still disqualified, even though the photographer, Mr. Jose Luis Rodriguez, claims it's legitimate. It was the photo of a wolf jumping over branches. The judges think the wolf was one that was not of nature but from captivity. The truth will never be truly known. Hopefully one day a wolf photo will win and it won't be rejected..
