Well I can tell you this will rile up the antis who are anti-wolf. They will want the call to arms to slaughter wolves to 'protect' people. Wow. That hardly would make sense. Wolves are being slaughtered en masse. Funny, cause even Palin and Beck on the Glenn Beck show, 3/18/2010, said violence is not the answer to America's problems. Yet they support guns, and violence against animals. And they both support the Governor of Idaho who hates wolves too. If they subscribe to this doctrine, the antis against wolves should be whacking the whole human race in that case. Why you ask? Well here is some numbers for you. Guess what is more threatening than nature? People. I) From MADD: In 2008, an estimated 11,773 people died in drunk driving crashes involving a driver with an illegal BAC (.08 or greater). These deaths constitute 31.6 percent of the 37,261 total traffic fatalities in 2008. (Source: NHTSA, 2009) II) According to the FBI, 16,272 persons were murdered nationwide in 2008. 13 happened in Alaska, and 2,163 assaults happened in Alaska. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2008/data/table_05.html Chairman Mao, Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, the U.S., have all been responsible for the deaths of many people in the past, but did we go on a purge of humanity, and have it legal? No. This is even despite the fact that humans created nukes, rape, genocide, abuse of every kind imaginable, and other sick crimes. Do we advocate human genocide? Obviously not. The thing is, wolves are not evil. What probably happened, was that the jogger encountered the wolves and ran, instead of calmly leaving the area. Thus the wolves paid the price as they would be gunned down in cold blood. The Alaskan Department of Fish and Game slaughtered the two wolves, just like the incident in Canada where it was never proven whether the wolves killed a man or not. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/03/18/wolves.kill.woman/?hpt=T2 Even worse, the AKDFG, has declared the aerial shooting war on wolves once again. They have slaughtered one wolf, and are going after them in the Fortymile area. http://newsminer.com/view/full_story/6755957/article-Aerial-wolf-shootings-be gin-in-Fortymile-area?instance=home_news_window_left_top_1 Contact the AKDFG in response to this: http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/bbs/contact/staff.php 2) Now the Minnesota DNR is trying to get wolves delisted in Minnesota. They submitted a petition to Ken Salazar of the Department of the Interior. http://www.wxow.com/Global/story.asp?S=12155351 This is a big threat because he has 90 days to decide whether to go through with this petition or not. And the thing is, he has delisted wolves in the Northern Rockies already. Contact the President and Salazar urging them to relist wolves. http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ http://www.doi.gov/contact.html Also google Minnesota newspapers and write letters to the editor of those newspapers to bring awareness to this issue. 3) On the other hand we have some good news. In Canada, the public there voted down aerial wolf slaughter in British Columbia. Go citizens of British Columbia! Seeing that there are other methods that are non-lethal to protect threatened mountain caribou, government officials, even the environmental minister, will have to live with doing non-lethal methods, rather than wanting to engage in a bloodbath that they wanted so badly. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Howls+protest+against+wolf+kill/2694986 /story.html Again thanks citizens of B.C. for relying on common sense and morality on this issue to make the right choice for nature. And for acknowledging that humans and nature can live together, in peace, after all. 4) Here is other news, that you might find interesting. Dogs may very well have been from the Middle East. For along time it was guessed they came from Asia, and into North America. It is even more speculated it was a love-hate relationship where people found them somewhat beneficial, but begrudgingly. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE62G4AQ20100317?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a4 9:g43:r2:c0.120000:b31982198:z0 That wouldn't be surprising since people even nowadays still regard dogs as lowly, and use phrases like, 'He is sicker than a dog', or using other common adages to degrade the dog in more derogatory means. It could also explain why man's best friend is used in dog fighting rings and more. The lack of respect in the first place of dogs could have fueled all of this. Course that is our speculation. One of our directors Ann-Marie, found this article if you want to go farther back than that. Dingo's were the first dogs, or wild dogs if you prefer. Strains of their breed were in the Middle East and Asia. Pretty cool huh? http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/6947284/dingo-could-be-worlds-oldest-dog- study/ --------------- Mike Wagner Founder and Director of Heart of the Wolf Organization http://www.heartofthewolf.org Copyright 2010 Heart of the Wolf Organization |
