| 1) Here are some updates. An article discussed talks about, non-lethal methods have been used with the Phantom Hill Pack. Methods we already, discussed. Methods that work. Unfortunately Suzanne Stone uses this coded language that is rather bad. "Using these types of techniques can help preclude the need for lethal control," she said. She has done this before. Ultimately Defenders of Canada supports it however. http://www.capitalpress.info/main.asp?SectionID=67&SubSectionID=617&Article ID=52143&TM=46276.42 2) One of the Phantom Hill Pack members died in Idaho after being struck to death near Highway 75. It was reported to the Fish and Game who hazed the other Wolves from residential areas and collared the other members of the pack. Will this work for the Wolves since one of their leaders has fallen? Time will tell and we hope so. http://www.mtexpress.com/index2.php?ID=2005126531 3) A Mexican Gray Wolf has been allowed to live by the Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery Program. An Alpha male who has been raising quite a bit of pups was spared from being murdered under the 'three-strikes rule' that is going on in New Mexico and Arizona. We are happy about this, and need to thank them for sparing the life of this Wolf, but also encourage them to use Non-Lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching as a result. |

Very interesting. Hopefully the program will be more successful than the failures seen almost around the globe. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2009/06/21/ST2009062102302.html Copyright 2009 Heart of the Wolf Organization.
