| Wolf-Dog News 8/3/2009 Wolf-Dog News 8/3/2009 Here is ads from the grapevine as to which wolf-dogs you can help. 1) FOSTERS NEEDED FOR WOLFDOGS EVERYWHERE IN U.S. PLZ REPOST HOWL ALERT Rescuers are in desparate need of foster homes in almost every state. To give you an idea, today we received urgent requests for three (3) bonded pairs in KY, along with requests from 2 different people in KY for 2 different males. There are 4 pups in TX along with 2 adults (none need to go together). We also have just received word on 2 in Nevada. There is also a bonded pair in Florida and 1 that is by herself. That is all today. If you can foster, please email kfcwolfkaren@gmail.com and the appropriate rescuer will be in touch with an application for you to fill out. We also do a homecheck to verify you have proper containment for a wolfdog. 2) A message to all members of WOLFDOGS NEED HOMES Lola is 2 1/2 years old & is a mix of German Shepherd, Malamute, Timber & some other kind of wolf (sigh....sorry for my ignorance among types of wolves Nancy). She was bought by my friend March of 2007 by a "breeder" in the Denver area. He got her when she was 8 weeks old. Lola is fixed & is up to date on all her shots. The problems that He has been having with her is she is small animal aggressive (small puppies, cats etc.), she isnt completely house trained, she isnt crate trained, but he cant leave her in the house because she destroys the couch, etc. He has a 6 foot fence but she digs her way out, etc. He doesnt have the patience or knowledge of this type of dog to keep both of them happy. Due to his loss of patience with her he has become abusive towards her, example, punching her in the head over & over when she has an accident in the house. I dont want Lola to be shot or euthanized because she has the potential to be a good animal and is very sweet. EMAIL LINDA AT EMAIL: wolfsunka@yahoo.com 3) A message to all members of WOLFDOGS NEED HOMES to push for a new SPCA to be licensed. For some political reason they are stalling. Please email 2 of the county commissioners to approve the licensing. See below information from email received today. feel free to cross post this too one of my "projects" since I retired, is assisting a friend of mine (fellow vette owner and previous owner of Fitness University, now retired at 45 years old... $$$$) is trying to start a Stafford County SPCA. He has the land and funds .... we are meeting resistance from the county board for political reasons of some type.. I stayed out of that.. but here are some facts for you: 2,680 animals were held at the Stafford County Animal Control Pound in 2008....... 1,206 of them were euthanized.. a 45% euthanasia rate for Staffords homeless pets.... ..why? no space.. This SPCA will be pro-wolfdog too! Bills site will offer: off leash dog park, pavillions for training, classes and events (which I'll be evolved in), a barn and paddocks for horses, livestock, and gian breed dogs needing temp rescue.... existing 8,000 Sq.Ft nursing home building is being renovated to include vet/spay-nuetuer clinic, classrooms, offices, cattery, and initial dog quarters. Dog kennels: 7,000 sq ft to add space to assist Staffords ACO office..and in the next 5 years, another 7,000 sq. ft. for dog kennels. Walking trails for prospective owners and dogs, and a picnic area.. He's also making enclosures so I can place wolfdog temporarily. .. This SPCA will end up saving thousands of animals... if you would: simply send an email with your contact info (you dont have to be Stafford resident to make your voice heard..just an animal lover)... say: I support the need for an SPCA in Stafford county. The growing number of pets being abandoned and surrendered by owners due to the current economy is tragic. send to: Paul Milde: pmilde@co.stafford.va.us Mark Dudenhefer: mdudenhefer@co.stafford.va.us Visit WOLFDOGS NEED HOMES at: http://wolfdogs.ning.com 4) WA-BEAUTY NAID LADY NEEDS A HOME - PLZ REPOST Lady is almost 4 yrs old and isn't a real big girl...she is around 60 lbs. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb72/kfcwolf/Lady%20in%20WA/?action=vie w¤t=WALadyHIarentIcute.jpg She seems to have a more alpha personality and is choosy about her canine companions...likes some females and some males...but not all....she has a fairly high prey drive and although her foster mom has cats and she leaves them alone, her foster mom says she should never be left unsupervised with cats or small animals. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb72/kfcwolf/Lady%20in%20WA/?action=vie w¤t=WALadyLets_go_walk_me.jpg She walks nicely on a leash after an initial pulling session when she first gets started. She loves to be in the house with people and would rather be in the house than outside.... she is house trained and crate trained...in fact, she goes in her crate all by herself without coaxing. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb72/kfcwolf/Lady%20in%20WA/?action=vie w¤t=WALadyHhmmmwhatsthis.jpg Lady lost her first home when her owner lost her job and home and the second person who had adopted her put her up on Craigslist thinking they would make some money but ended up giving her to her current foster mom. There are donkeys and goats on an adjoining property where Lady is currently being cared for and she really likes them...in fact, one of the goats really loves her and gives her kisses which she loves. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb72/kfcwolf/Lady%20in%20WA/?action=vie w¤t=WALadyTreat_Please.jpg Lady is initially shy and skittish until she gets to know someone and once she feels trust, is so loving and sweet. Lady should have long fur all over but the second people who had her and put her up on Craigslist, shaved her and her fur is slowly growing back in. Lady is in foster care in Washington state at the present time. For more information on Lady, please contact Kim at ladynalokaai@gmail.com or Kim (a different one) at wolflady@earthlink.net 5) OR-PRETTY WOLFDOG GIRL NEEDS A HOME ASAP-PLZ REPOST Quote from owner who 'has' to give up his girl. This is Red. She is 3 1/2 years old and weighs 80lbs. She is spayed and utd on all her shots. She is house trained. Loves to ride in the truck, she needs to be secure though because she lunges at the passing cars. Gets along well with male dogs. She can be very aggressive towards female dogs. She should not be around cats or other small animals. Red is an escape artist. I have a large chain link kennel that she had no problem putting a huge hole in. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb72/kfcwolf/Red%20in%20OR/?action=vie w¤t=RedinOR2.jpg Contact Kim at email: wolflady@earthlink.net For the most part she just wants to be played with. She can be kind of rough. Red is very mouthy, she doesn't offer to bite but uses her entire mouth to play. She would make a great hiking partner or good company to watch tv with. Can be leery of some men. Red is crate trained. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb72/kfcwolf/Red%20in%20OR/?action=vie w¤t=RedinOR.jpg She should not be left loose and alone in the house. She can reach everything and just generally makes a huge mess. She should be fed outside because she like to tip her food bowl and tries to swim in her water bowl. She is a big clown. To foster or adopt Red contact Kim at email: wolflady@earthlink.net |
