| 'The choice today is no longer between violence and nonviolence. It is either nonviolence or nonexistence.' -- Martin Luther King HEART OF THE WOLF ORGANIZATION NEWS 1/5/2010 Here are the latest updates folks. 1) There are has understandably been massive outrage over the hunt in Sweden on 20 wolves. 20 were annihilated. The hunt was over on the day after the new year. Which makes it start off on a bad note for the wolves. http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world/criticism-soars-as-swedens-wol f-hunt-ends-20100106-lsk5.html This is because there are going to be more hunts in the future. Of course this is no surprise. As anyone can tell you, the interests that deal with nature don't have it's interest in mind. Just money, and blood money. Even worse is their population there is small (210!) and yet this government only plans to have 20 more wolves in 4 years. Yet the population of humans in Sweden is, around oh just only 9,220,986. http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=sp_pop_totl&idim=countr y:SWE&q=sweden+population Wrap your head around how many more people in comparison to wolves there are you will see how ludicrous and unethical these hunts are. This hunt was also illegal and violates rules with the European Union. But as with nature, the law never protects it. And new rules are always made later on to make things legal. Or those who illegally violate the law regarding nature get away with it. To express your feelings on the matter to Swedish officials and the European Union, here is how: Fredrik Reinfeldt Svenska Prime Minister, Prime Minister's Office http://www.sweden.gov.se/pub/road/Classic/article/117/jsp/Render.jsp? a=70244&m=popup&l=en Cecilia Malmström Svenska Minister for EU Affairs, Prime Minister's Office http://www.sweden.gov.se/pub/road/Classic/article/117/jsp/Render.jsp? a=70249&m=popup&l=en Swedish Environmental Protection Agency Attn: Yvonne Lundell Principal Administrative Officer Wildlife Management Section S-106 48 STOCKHOLM Tel: +46 (8) 698 10 00; 698 14 14 Fax: +46 (8) 698 14 02 Email: yvonne.lundell@naturvardsverket.se; natur@naturvardsverket.se European Union: inquiries@un.org http://www.heartofthewolf.org/MediaGovernmentContacts.htm 2) Idaho hunting of wolves has stopped in one section in Idaho. Unfortunately 128 wolves have been murdered so far. http://www.sltrib.com/nationworld/ci_14119192 Sadly the Idaho Department of Fish and Game even has gone so far as to support hunting and even gives tips on it. Fight back today! Stop the slaughter of wolves in the Northern Rockies: http://www.heartofthewolf.org/StopTheHunt.html 3) Good news! A wolf by the name of Nina, recently returned to Wolf Hollow sanctuary, and on it's own. http://www.salemnews.com/punews/local_story_005102627.html Glad there is a happy ending. Until next time, watch us for new updates and help donate to our cause today.
