Now it's on it's way to the Senate. http://www.petoskeynews.com/news/article_1c0715c8-2170-11df-b692-001cc 4c03286.html Only you can stop it. Please contact the Michigan Senators and decry this. If wolves are delisted in Michigan, the chaos and bloodshed will happen there like in the Northern Rockies. http://www.senate.michigan.gov/ Click on the Senate section of the site and start e-mailing folks. 2) The Alaska Board of Game is being asked to increase the wolf buffer zone near Denali Park so research on the wolves can be easier to do. And information for visitors of the park is lost when wolves near and in Denali get trapped coming and going. http://www.nationalparkstraveler.com/2010/03/alaska-board-game-asked-incr ease-wolf-buffer-zone-denali-national-parkand-preserve5451 Please request the Alaska Board of Game to do this. The wolves need all the protection they can get from the various programs that the AK wildlife agencies do to slaughter wolves on a regular basis. http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/bbs/contact/staff.php 3) Thank the County Administrative Board of Dalarna for not making a hunt on wolves in the village of Sörsjön. And instead of promoting non-lethal means to deter them away from the town. http://timberwolfinformation.org/info/archieve/newspapers/viewnews.cfm?ID=6 422 Here is their contact site: http://www.lst.se/lst/Kontakta/ 4) Here is an interesting article about wolves returning to Germany and once again why lethal actions against wolves is not needed. And a brief history about wolves there. http://www.thelocal.de/national/20100226-25525.html 5) The Cairngorms National Park is courting the idea of reintroducing predators back to this park. Wolves are one of them. However it is feared that wolves may cause an issue with livestock. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/wildlife/7330504/Bears-lynx-wolves-and-elk-c onsidered-for-reintroduction-into-British-countryside.html Well, that's why we need to assure government officials they are not. And support the reintroduction of predator species. Contact the park, as well as the British Parliament with the information here: http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.html A) http://www.cairngorms.co.uk/contact/contactus/ B) helpline@defra.gsi.gov.uk http://www.parliament.uk/site_information/contact_us.cfm 6) Two other news-stories can be found here: http://www.magicvalley.com/news/local/article_5d7be22e-90b5-51e2-9c5d-23a a41e87c0f.html http://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2010/feb/27/is-there-a-new-pack-of-wol ves-near-lake-chelan/ 7) The debate over wolves possibly in Colorado continues to rage. Are they here? Have they passed through? It's still unknown. We hope they are back, but if they are, will the Colorado Division of Wildlife actually do their job? And with the help of the USFWS (their help usually isn't very much) to reintroduce a population there? We hope so. We will keep you posted. http://www.denverpost.com/ci_14495306 --------------- Mike Wagner Founder and Director of Heart of the Wolf Organization http://www.heartofthewolf.org Copyright 2010 Heart of the Wolf Organization |
