ACTIVE CAMPAIGN TO GET KEI THE WOLF IN JAPAN BETTER LIVING CONDITIONS!

"The W.A.O. believes only tragedy results from keeping animals in captivity. In the wild, an elephant like that would roam an area 20 square miles, minimum. Ganesha weighed in excess of 5000 pounds, and she was being held in a 50 by 50 foot cage." -- Kyle Lang

"And you consider that inhumane treatment?" -- Dana Scully

"It's like you or I living in a pickle barrel." -- Kyle Lang (from the X-Files)

A campaign (by Earl Bingley and Greg Leisure) started in 2004 to originally to free Kei from her 7 X 5 meter enclosure to have her live the rest of her days at Mission Wolf has shifted. In light of Kei's ailing health, she would die certainly upon being relocated. All that can be done at this point is to get her better living conditions.

Please read the information below and take action to help!

Kei is a Wolf that has been kept in the Okinawa Zoo for 12 years in a prision. Numerous attempts and pressuring from around the world to free her has been ignored while she was still healthy by the owner of the zoo, the mayor of Okinawa as well as the Prime Minister of Japan. Denial about her condition in the zoo and an indefinite confining of her in the zoo has caused her to suffer greatly.

Now all that can be done is to pressure the zoo officials and the mayor into giving her a decent final resting place in her own prison.

Here are past updates:

The Campaign for Kei Website has been updated. It has a flash video that was well put together. The whole format has been changed on the site. It has lots of information on it too.

PETA is now an ally to the Free Kei Campaign. They have issued an official letter to the Okinawa Zoo.

Also the main organizer of the campaign, Greg Leisure, by chance encountered a Japanese War Hero, who supports the cause. What his role will be in this is uncertain but it certainly is interesting of note.
