TWO REVIEWS ON CLASSIC WOLF PROGRAMS

Here is two reviews on two classic programs
that featured Wolves.

1) CARIBOU AND WOLVES - THE ENDLESS DANCE: NATURAL WORLD SERIES

This was a program that was originally on
Animal Planet in 2006. And re-aired January 13, 2008.

It deals with the subject of Caribou on
a 5,000 mile trek in the Arctic.
And it also focuses on Wolves who live in the
Arctic as well.

The show was unique in the sense that
it shows how both live and their challenges.
And how their lives impact one another
for survival.

The Caribou were the main focus of the
program and the Wolves were the secondary
focus.

Since Heart of the Wolf Organization is
a Wolf Organization first and foremost
we are reviewing the Wolf aspect of the
show.

The Wolves were shown in the program
as to hunting Caribou whenever they
were injured, weak or made a mistake
and got separated from their herds.

Usually they would be active in hunting
Caribou in February.

They also have the ability to slip
between trees and get closer to the
Caribou on hunts. Wolves also appear
to track Caribou once pups are old
enough to track Caribou in the fall.

In particular the film focuses on a
Alpha pair who has been in a particular
region of the Arctic for 7 years.

For three months at a time they have
to remain in an area and raise their
pups. Summer migrations already of
the Caribou makes it difficult to
get food for their pups. Especially
since the Wolves are 300 miles south
of the Caribou.

Finding food is difficult for the
Wolves and the Alpha Male is out
most of the time trying to find food.
He often is frustrated with the lack
of success. The Alpha Female is overjoyed
when he returns from his efforts to
find food.

Winds determine if this small pack
can find food. Although winds finally
reveal food, it isn't long until they
are in dire straits again as summer
herds move on past the area of the
small pack's den.

The program doesn't indicate as to what
happens in the future to this small
pack, which is the only flaw in regards
to the Wolf half of the program.

The film ends with the Caribou ending
at their destination and making a reference
to how their fate will be intertwined
always with the Wolves. They call it
a dance with Wolves.

The program also had great music that
was performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rating 4/5

2) ANIMAL MIRACLES

Right after this program aired a show
that is regularly shown on Animal Planet
as well called Animal Miracles.

It is co-produced and hosted by Alan
Thicke (of Growing Pains fame).

This episode had to do with a segment
about a Wolf-Hybrid by the name of Tough.

The episode pegged it right when Thicke talks
about how unlike the tales of The Three Little
Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf and the bad reputation
they still bring, that Wolves are actually neither
big or bad.

They as he talks about are highly sociable, as well
as devoted completely to members of their pack.

The segment talks about how in 1999 a woman by
the name of Mary Duncan adopted Tough in Washington
State. At first she was concerned about Tough
since he is a Wolf-Hybrid (75% Wolf, 25% German Shepherd)

The Duncan family saved Tough from going to a pound
by adopting him. Unknowingly to them, Tough
would later repay the favor, more than they
would ever imagine.

They had him for a year and Tough even
loved family friend Shawn Harris.

Less than a year later Shawn Harris
and Jacob Duncan would go out to return a boat
to Jacob's stepfather Mike Harris.

They would stop at a buoy and would later
realize the boat drifted away.

Mary advised the two young men to not
swim back to shore. However 30 min. later when
Mary Duncan and Mike Harris arrived they
thought the young men could swim back with
guidance.

However when Shawn and Jacob jumped in
they found out it was frigid. Mike attempted
to help but knew he would be limited by
the water. Mary called 911 but knew by the
time rescuers would come it would be too late.

Mary and Mike called Tough. Tough after awhile
would manage to find Jacob and would rescue
him first.

Shawn briefly vanished. Mary and Mike though
he was dead. However Tough, though exhausted
would go the extra-mile to save Shawn. Mike
and Jacob would finish rescuing Shawn.

Tough would lead paramedics to the Duncan
and Harris' location.

Jacob and Shawn were eternally grateful
to Tough and realized how precious life is
and how fragile it is.

It was a wonderful tale dispelling myth
about Wolves, Hybrids and heroism that
exists. It was definitely worth the watch.

It was originally aired in 2004.

HERE IS A NEW PIECE OF WOLF MEDIA.

The Japanese music group, UVERworld
are releasing an album called, Progultion.

The Limited Edition which comes with
a DVD has a limited cover which features
one of the musicians TAKUYA (the singer) sitting with a Wolf
